Numbers - My Life

10:19:00 Posted by Louise Barklam , , , 4 comments
As a couple of others have mentioned this week, I am not great with numbers either.  For some reason, when sat in my Maths Class, a lot of what the teacher was saying just wouldn't "stick" in my head and made very little sense.  Mostly algebra.  The substitution of letters for numbers just didn't compute in my mind.  Maths is supposed to be about numbers!!

Strangely, Science was my best subject.  I know, I know. There's an element of letter / number substitution in Science too. I can't explain it.

So, as I have been nobbled this week with what I was originally going to talk about, I've decided to write a mathematical poem. It will only make real sense to me I suppose, but I thought it a novel idea.  Oh, and the first sum isn't wrong in this case. ;-)

Numbers - My Life:

1 + 1 = 3
3 + 1 = 4
4 + 1 = 5
5 - 1 = 4
4 + 1 = 5
5 + 1 = 6
6 + 1 = 7

1 + 1 = 2
2 - 1 = 1
1 + 1 = 2
2 - 1 = 1
1 + 1 = 2
2 + 1 = 3 (eventually)
3 - 1 = 2 ..............

So there you go, that's my life in numbers so far.  I'll let you try to figure out the first sum yourself. ;-)

Thanks for reading. x

That is awesome.

and correct me if I'm wrong.

This is one the most original things I've seen in poetry for many a year.

Children are the most wonderful things for making numbers whole.

Thank you
