Did you hear the one about the bears on the loose in Blackpool?
Apparently, they've broken off their picnic and have decided the lights need more excitement...

Angry bears are reported to have lashed out in Blackpool.

No, this isn't true but there is plenty to get yourself down to Blackpool Prom for this year.
On what has been a bit of a celebratory day for members of the DGPS (former Tuesday blogger Lara handed in her MA portfolio today... expect a comeback), something rather exciting now graces the famous lights.

So if you go down to the prom tonight, you'll never believe your ears. Haunted Blackpool is a dramatic, locally produced and written collection of ghost stories- organised by DGPS member Stephen Stroud. The multi talented poet, writer, organiser and sometime musician can now add director to his growing list of achievements and his work in collecting together and filming so many haunting stories of the coast brings something spine chillingly different to the 125th Anniversary of Blackpool Illuminations.

I know there has been a lot of work put into this project, the standard being set exceptionally high so if you are planning a trip to the illuminations, don't just drive through- get up close and personal with the show. Featuring many of the Dead Good Poets, Haunted Blackpool has been installed close to the old Miner's Home, a fitting place to dredge up some truly unruly tales.

The theme this week is Teddy Bears. I understand they are not on the loose and are indeed still having a picnic near Bispham. They'll all be there until November.
