About

Founded in 2009, the Lancashire Dead Good Poets’ Society consists of wordsmiths from Blackpool and across the wider Fylde coast. We count amongst our number page and performance poets, published writers, story tellers, English Language and Drama teachers, creative writing tutors, musicians, song-writers and professional reviewers.

We meet twice a month to host the Dead Good Poets' open mic events (one virtual via Zoom and one live in person) encouraging amateur writers at various levels of experience to perform their work alongside established performers. Each open mic evening is full of high quality and varied approaches that excite the non-performing audience members as much as fellow poets.

We also publish the award-winning Dead Good Blog which has fresh posts on a weekly theme several times a week and is an excellent showcase not only for the opinions, projects and talents of Lancashire Dead Good Poets' Society members but also for an extensive roll of guest writers.

We publish occasional anthologies of members' works and also run workshops to help local writers develop their skills and produce better work. It is the intention of the Lancashire Dead Good Poets’ Society to continue helping writers of any age and any experience to develop their wordsmithery talents.
