The Apple Core of Mind

Apple Core

Watching - a dark grey vapour of flies infect
the apple core of mind.  Left lifeless
as the maggots of self-doubt collect.
Watching a dark grey vapour of flies infect
and steal. As cells choke I sit, reflect:
the missing image of the soulless.
Watching a dark grey vapour of flies infect.
The apple core of mind left lifeless.

Thank you for reading,
Lara

Beautifully done.

We don't see enough triolets on here. I wish I'd seen this earlier in the week when I had a student arguing about the necessity of meter in poetry.

Wonderful as always.

Lara, your work is so precise; so beautifully constructed and so delightful to read. More please.
