Heatwave

I thought this weeks' theme rather apt. Even though it may be raining today, we haven't lost the heat have we? But then, I love Summer Showers anyway.

But what can  be written about this topic? It's hot! Erm ....

Heed the Warning:

Relentless heat
robbing oxygen from the air,
Not even a breeze
to refresh the senses.
The Sun's rays,
focused
as if through a magnifying glass.
Some run for cover
into the shade
like Ants.
Others lay prone
basting themselves
roasting their bodies
broiling their brains.
Determined
to get a perfect tan.
Shimmering air
dances above the ground
as the heat radiates
on the surface of our scorched earth.
Parched plants
withered and crisp
deny beauty to the eye.
Hosepipe ban
punctuating their thirst.
On a world
covered in water,
we slowly shrivel,
dehydrating,
dying.
Third World Countries say:
"Welcome to the club!".

Thanks for reading, sorry it's a shorter one this week.  ;-)
