Roll The Dice

In a world of Instagram glamour, irresistible influencers and adverts that will make your eyes hurt, sometimes you wonder if you’re doing life wrong. When really it just takes a roll of the dice to change everything. I believe you just need to stay positive (besides who really wants a Gucci handbag?... well actually I do!).

If life gives you lemons make lemonade or cry bitter tears... Anyhoo! What I’m trying to say is that life is forever changing and forever flowing, you just need to go with the flow of the dice (ha see what I did there!).

That’s really very ironic for me to say actually, I am a worrier. Ever since I was little I would make up situations in my head. It’s a matter of distracting myself from my damning thoughts. But I think that’s ok. Feed the monster that lives inside your skull with thoughts. Beautiful uplifting thoughts, on novels and poetry, let it taste new places and new beginnings, live to the best of your ability. Stop comparing yourself to others. We all have head monsters.

Take a chance. Roll the dice. Keep the monster happy.

 A Little Voice Called Hope
It’s a humming, thrumming noise
That lives at the back of your head.
He whispers in your darkest hours.
He’s there forever present
Not menacing
Loving
His name is hope.
Hope knows there is a way out.
Hope has no fears
Hope will guide you.
Provide for you.
All he wants in return is for you to care
To acknowledge he is there.
His name is hope
And he lives inside of me.
And he lives inside of you.

Nice one Helena. I have made it my duty to become a contrarian and resist irresistible influencers :-)

Keep feeding your monsters with improving materials. I liked your poem and it's good to be able to read something from you again. Thank you.
